Smile New Boardwalk Game Lucky/Unlucky Points

Who else is somewhat bored of the boardwalk games of late? Hopefully im not the only one who thinks this. However, i propose that a new game be implemented, at least during the Canthan New Year and/or Dragon Festival. As of right now, the fastest way to get your lucky and unlucky titles up is afking on 9 Rings for DAYS on end, and even that isnt enough to max it out within a reasonable time frame.

I simply propose a new game be implemented into the Boardwalk, one that moves those lucky/unlucky titles along much faster but also requires players to actively participate. (Hence, no afk)

If you agree with me so far, please visit my Wiki talk page on the layout of a possibly new game for the Boardwalk.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:Scttclmns

If you have any questions or suggestions please post here or speak with my in-game character: Jaden Clemons OR Blade of the Jedi

thank you

I would have to disagree when you say afking the rings is the fastest way to get lucky (maybe the fastest way to afk the titles). Chestrunning is way faster, I noticed I got like 4-5k lucky points ea hour by afking the rings, more or less.. but if I chestrun I could push that to around 9-10k lucky points ea hour.

If you don't like the boardwalk, chestrun.. gogo.. feel the pain.

I don't see how a little more variety in the games could hurt... not that I would prioritize it above new content and skill balances, but this seems like it might be a more realistic expectation at this point...

I would like to see a boardwalk game where you can acquire lucky/unlucky points faster than you would on the 9 rings, but would have to be at your computer actually playing and participating for to reap the benefits for.

I would love to see the Nine Rings and Rings of Fortune be demolished in favor of a faster way that required actual player participation.

Thank you for your support, please help spread the word, and maybe ArenaNet may consider introducing it

This is a good idea if only because this would increase player activity during festivals. 9 Rings should probably stay however, the larger ring game can go...

Much as I would like to see a faster way to Lucky title, this is not it.

Just a quick glance shows that you only have a 1:10 chance of getting 100 lucky points, slightly WORSE than the corners on 9 rings. But even worse you only have a 1:1000 chance of getting 400 lucky points. This to me is NOT faster in any way, shape or form.

Hell chest running would be quicker here, at 1 chest per minute (easily achieveable in some places), that's a potential 15,000 lucky points an hour. Admitted at the rate that I break picks though, I'd be lucky to see even 1/2 that (my retain rate is 65% in NM @ the moment).

16 Rings is meant to be a cheaper way to get unlucky points and as such I do NOT want to see it disappear. Now that I have R5 Lucky, I'll be going for the unlucky points in future events, which also has the bonus of not needing anywhere like as many tickets as the 9 rings game does.

So to sum up, I really would like to see a faster way to Lucky (who wouldn't), but in it's current form, this suggestion is NOT it.

Sorry but /notsigned (for the moment).

Definitely, more games. The boardwalk isn't more "omgosh I can max my lucky title hurrr" it's for having fun. More games and more diversity are definitely welcome!

Slots?

The classic (find the ball) game, where one ball is hidden among 5?

Duck shoot? Make a skill that fires only forward, quickly.

Cakewalk? you know, the carnival game where, while the music is playing, you walk/run around in a circle over numbered pads/squares/carpets, and then when the music stops, one number is chosen, and that pad is the winner.

There's so many possibilities.

I admit I did it myself but I still think afk 9 rings is lame.
New games and more fun for festival, and new ways to rarn those points would be great.

Anon-e-Mouse, while i respect that you found a flaw with the idea, if you read more carefully, it said "subject to change"
when i created those numbers, it was off the top of my head, it was mostly the idea i was going after. i was going to leave it to ArenaNet to decide the actual lucky points/unlucky points
i really do appreciate your suggestion though
i'll edit the scoring table soon

Currently if you centre spot afk on 9 rings you have a 5/9 chance of winning.. I would translate this over to your version. Drop the all lucky points wins down the chart by 1 position each and have 1000 = 25,000+ points or something (bear in mind this is likely to only happen a handfull of times in an entire weekend event). I would also consider up'ing the lucky points for a 'win' especially nearer the top.

I'd also bring up the unlucky points by at least one position.

Although to be honest I think it's a little to late in the life of GW1 to be introducing new games now. And it's probably a little to complex. Most of the games now can be summed up in about 2 or 3 short lines of text. Having varying win values that depended on the value of the /rolls in the first place, doesn't quite jibe with the K(eep) I(t) S(imple) S(illy) principle.

I do to. Just trying to make the initial idea better. Anything that allows more chances to gain Lucky points is a bonus to my eyes (only just got to Golden (5) over the weekend).

Personally I would see it as playing the dice game if you are at the computer, and afk on 9 rings when you aren't. Both have a part to play.

Thank you for your suggestions! i have recently updated the Scoring portion of the game to better reflect the win/lose odds presented in 9 Rings. if they are still off, please let me know.
